We hear from all sides about the loss and the lack of decency in our current politicians. Our thinkers are not much better, but they may not be any better than any other thinker or politician at any time. One hears as well theories about how moderns are less intelligent than the ancients, sometimes it being said that the lead in the air brought us to our astounding stupidity, but again this is the situation, most probably, of all humanity.
